Meet Soledad, The Bottletree’s fawn

Soledad. acnatta/FlickrA notable member of The Bottletree‘s family has been on an extended vacation recently. The fawn that normally graces the liquor shelves of the Avondale eatery and music venue hitched a ride with London-based band The xx shortly after their March 23 performance there. They decided to name the fawn “Soledad” and they captured images from the journey and shared them via a blog. Soledad also apparently set up her own Twitter account but never used it. The fawn has recently returned to its perch overlooking the happenings at The Bottetree’s bar.

According to the most recent post, more adventures will be shared soon.

It was not the first item to ever hitch a ride with the band – you may also want to meet Richard the Hamster…

A Festivus gift for one of us

AirCurveWe’ve got this Griffin Technology AirCurve that we’ve been wanting to give away for some time now. The thought of doing it today just seems to make some sense. There’s no form to fill out or need to add your name to a mailing list. We’re just hoping that we’ll get a chance to see you today at The Bottletree.

Some folks are holding a Festivus tweetup this afternoon starting at 3 p.m. at the popular gathering spot and music venue. All we’re requiring is that you seek me out at said event and say “It’s Nice to Have You in Birmingham.”

The Bottletree Bailout is born!

For those that visited the site this weekend, the post at the top of the page best summed up my thoughts about the situation involving  The Bottletree and City Stages. So of course the next question was, what else to do besides asking folks to go. The answer is simple -> ask them to come out!

We’re calling a Terminally Happy Hour for this Thursday, July 2 – only this time it’s a Bottletree Bailout! We’re asking all of you that see this (and your friends) to come out to The Bottletree whenever you can during happy hour on Thursday – we’ll be getting there at around 4 p.m. – and enjoy meeting people from elsewhere in metro Birmingham while providing business for a venue that’s done a lot for us.

From the Stationmaster: Help out The Bottletree

I generally do not write directly to y’all  unless it’s over on my Birmingham, but I feel as though this is a necessary reason…

Bottletree BW logoSome of you have no doubt heard about The Bottletree’s situation as a result of City Stages’ recent decision to shut down. I do know that The Bottletree has been a major supporter of The Terminal from day one and one of the main reasons that this site is still operating as of right now. I will say that I don’t have any way to put my money where my mouth is because right now I don’t have any money.

Since I can’t support a business that has helped me out on numerous occasions when I’ve been down and out when they need that generosity returned financially, I’m asking you to find any way that you can to help Merrilee, Brad and the rest of the folks over there out.

Eat, drink, see a show, leave a big tip – anything – and if you know of any other vendors that need assistance, besides the ones mentioned in this report by ABC 33/40, please submit a comment to this post and let all of us know.

We wanted to take a moment and wish the folks over at The Bottletree a happy 2nd anniversary! They have been extremely supportive of the efforts of Birmingham’s hub since we’ve started and all of the folks over here sincerely appreciate all they’ve done for us and our local music scene in the last two years.

While we can’t give away tickets to this Saturday’s anniversary show (all of us think you should be there regardless), we can give you a chance to enjoy one of the first shows of their third year of existence in style. Hop on over to Timetable to learn more…

Come out and be Terminally Happy on May 21!This is your friendly neighborhood reminder that tomorrow evening is our monthly Terminally Happy Hour at The Bottletree! We sat around trying to figure out how to get a few more folks to come on out and join the conversation (especially since there is a Sex and the City preview party tomorrow evening as well courtesy of My Scoop).

So we figured “Why not give away two (2) pairs of weekend passes to City Stages 20?”, and that’s what we’re going to do!

The Terminally Happy Hour, The Bottletree

We figured we’d try this again.

Here’s how it’ll happen; we’ll show up at The Bottletree and hang out on the patio starting around 5 p.m. You’ll come on out and join us on said patio as we really hope it’s warm and not raining (although the patio is covered). We’ll have some crazy conversations going on and we’ll all be able to enjoy happy hour drink specials, Magic City Manhattans and chips and salsa.

What more do you need to enjoy a lazy Wednesday evening before the official start of summer? We thought so…
