A Race to remember

Gordon Bell/bhamterminal.com

We really don’t have any idea how many people took part in or attended this year’s Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in downtown Birmingham. We do know that all that benefit from the funds raised are grateful for their efforts. Click on the image above to view pictures from this morning’s event courtesy of our own Gordon Bell.

Finally, ArtWalk photos

Photo: MIA. Gordon Bell/GALPhotography

We’ve been trying to upload some photo sets (particularly one from ArtWalk 2008) to our backend for the better part of a week now, with no luck. Suddenly we just remembered, we do have the fan page on Facebook – and yet another outlet for photos. So, without further ado, check out the album of selected photos by Terminal photographer Gordon Bell from ArtWalk 2008. Add comments, name people, join the rest of the fans of the hub if you feel like it…

Working on a new skate ramp

Those of you that use the 5th Avenue North ramp to access Interstates 20/59 or 65 may only have a second to notice that there’s been a few changes in the landscape over there in recent weeks because of the removal of the skate park from Homewood’s Central Park in July.

Take photos of what’s IN

The IN Birmingham campaign’s been making a lot of folks in the area consider just what that means and how to record it. Libby’s been filling us in on what some of the results have been from the nominations that were collected (here’s her current post), now the folks over at a new Birmingham area photoblog are asking folks to submit photos to their site.

And while there are currently several photos in the Magic City Flickr Group as well as our own Terminal Flickr Group, the more places these photos are shared, particularly when associated with this question, the better!

There’s more beer to drink today

There are a few things going on today in Birmingham (as Christina pointed out in her column on Friday); last night some of the staff decided to check out the Magic City BrewFest at Sloss Furnaces.

Good People Beer being served at BrewFest 2008 in Bimingham, AL.

We ran into some good people, Good People and ,of course, great beer. It’s looking like the rain’s going to cooperate (at least a little) this afternoon, so we may see you out there again today. We might even try a live post. BTW – for those of you reading this and planning to attend today, check out the event website’s front page for an update on what’s going on today.

Random Shots: Feed Me

A female cardinal feeds her chicks in a nest built in an unused gas lamp in the backyard of a Roebuck Springs house on Birmingham’s east side. The chicks hatched about three days ago, a normal incubation period is 12 to 13 days, and if all goes well they will fledge the nest in the next week. The standard time from hatching to fledging is about 9 days or so.
