Old Crow Medicine Show at City Stages XX?

A quick check of the Pollstar schedule for Birmingham (and their own website) confirms that Old Crow Medicine Show has joined the City Stages 20 lineup in Birmingham’s city center with a June 13 performance closing out the set on the Legacy Credit Union Stage beginning at 10 p.m.

In Love With: Skyline Sightings

I enjoy looking at a good skyline. I can’t help but feel the excitement and energy emanating from those mountains of steel, glass, and stone, beckoning me to come explore. In my estimation, Chicago and Atlanta have great skylines—and so does Birmingham. It may not have the tallest buildings, but it has distinctive ones, such as the Regions Harbert Plaza (with a peak and spheres inspired by the surrounding older architecture) and a rich collection of classic skyscrapers including the City Federal building (once the South’s tallest building) and the Alabama Power Building (crowed with Electra’s golden statue).

So where are some of the best spots to gaze upon what we’ve built in a former cornfield?

Salvador films music video along Morris Ave. downtown

Wind chills in the upper teens did not stop Austin, TX-based Latin-funk band Salvador from taking to the streets of Birmingham, Alabama to film their new music video this morning. The crews were still setting up late this morning as members of the Christian funk band began to tape segments near Zen, housed in the former location of The Station while looking just a little cold. There was no word as to how long the band would be filming today along Morris Avenue.
