The Memorial Day weekend countdown is here…

So let’s give you a few things to do to fill that last half hour fifteen minutes…

I was one of three bloggers that were interviewed for this week’s episode of WBHM‘s arts and culture program Tapestry. The segment was on blogging and featured myself, Wade Kwon and Ashley Umbaugh. You can check out the story as it ran or the excerpts from my extended interview. If you want to hear it on the radio, it’s on tomorrow morning at 11:30 a.m. on 90.3 FM.

Our conductor Jason Donaldson’s still suffering from the spill he took on his bike a couple of weeks ago, but he’s pulled together a great set of musical options for you to check out for the weekend. You can always follow Jason on Twitter to see what else he’s up to.

Pepper Place Market’s 10th year starts Saturday

Franklin Biggs Fans of the Pepper Place Saturday Market already know that their wait is almost over. In less than two days the parking lot for the former Dr. Pepper building in Pepper Place on Birmingham’s Southside will be transformed on Saturday mornings from 7 a.m. – 12 p.m. into an organic farmers market. This year, the farmers market will run for 22 consecutive Saturdays, going through October 10 rain or shine. It will also be celebrating its tenth anniversary. As usual, 2^nd Avenue South between 28^th and 29^th Streets will be blocked off.

This week’s 9 a.m. cooking demonstration will be conducted by Daniel George‘s Chef Daniel Briggs. Maybe he’ll have as much fun as Franklin Biggs did a couple of years ago…

Random shots: Getting ready for tomorrow

For those looking for other ways to enjoy this relaxing Saturday in Birmingham, AL, you’ve still got time to get to Ensley for their 3^rd annual Easter Parade and Gospel Concert. The parade starts at 12 p.m. and the concert begins shortly afterward.

We were just a little quiet today over here, save for the “deluge” of information shared in the last hour or so. Got Plans? returns!

jasonpost For the better part of two months I’ve been promising a return of our most popular column, Got Plans? When Christina signed off in October, we had a lot of folks wondering what we were going to do next. Some have even been going back and rereading old entries just to get their fix for the week. Enter Jason Donaldson (hint, he’s the guy to the left of all of this text).
