UPDATE: 8:06 p.m.; we’ve created the gallery – click here to view. We’re still welcoming photos too!

It’s a little cold outside right now and the real danger may be later today and tonight as the snow turns into ice. We’re hoping that folks will be careful and safe while they’re heading out to their destinations this evening.

If you’ve got any images from the snowfall, drop us a line at photos[at]bhamterminal.com and we’ll get ’em up here for you…

The weather outside may be threatening, but it’s still Friday…

…meaning it’s time to figure out what you’re going to do this weekend. As always, Christina’s got some ideas over on Timetable in this week’s Got Plans? column (some involving dancing).

In addition, Sam decided to file a second post for the week, profiling Muscle Shoals-based Sons of Roswell in time for two upcoming appearances in the Magic City!

They are currently championing the placement of a dome stadium in our city center.

FYI – this is also the debut of our new photo gallery section (appropriately titled the gallery) here on The Terminal. We figured you may want to know a couple of things about that really weird slideshow function that we’re using.

Hoover’s Petelos participates in “Region” event for the first time

Tony Petelos headshotWhen Tony Petelos steps to the podium later this morning at the Birmingham Regional Chamber of Commerce‘s State of the Region event , it will mark the first time that the city’s mayor has taken part. The mayor of Hoover will join Birmingham mayor Larry Langford and seven (7) area county commissioners, speaking before a sold-out audience of more than 450 people at the Harbert Center to give an overall picture of the metropolitan area’s present situation and future plans. Both mayors have already made their speeches to their respective cities; Petelos spoke to Hoover earlier this month, with Langford making his remarks on Tuesday.

For those of us unable to attend (or for those that are just curious), myFoxAL.com will be streaming the event, available through this link beginning at 11:30 a.m.
