A strange two-part request

I’m not exactly sure if this will work, especially since there are so many folks that will probably not see this in time, but it doesn’t hurt to ask…

We did the math last night and figured that there’s got to be at least 50 It’s Nice to Have You in Birmingham (Black Terminal) t-shirts currently floating around The Magic City. We also figure that most of you will be at least considering showing up at the Magic City Art Connection during this weekend (rain or shine). So, we were wondering if it would be possible to get most of you to wear your shirts this weekend when you head out there – I’ll wear mine on Saturday.  We just figured it would be a pretty cool way to let folks know who’s reading the site (and maybe even get some more folks involved).

There’s a second part to this request – to ask all of you that currently have shirts to send in a picture to us of you wearing it. We’ll share it with everybody else in a new gallery that we’re setting up as soon as we get the first images in. Send your photos to photos@bhamterminal.com or if you’re a Flickr member, add them to our Flickr group.

Thanks a lot and enjoy the weekend!

Thanks for coming out on Friday!

Terminal Party thumbnail - Chris MillerWe’d like to take a moment and thank everyone that came out to our anniversary party on Friday evening. The weather ended up playing nice and it sounds like a good time was had by all. At least, we hope so… Click on the image to the left to see photos from the event.

We’re working on uploading some audio, but I still think that Friday’s editorial says what’s needed much better. We’ll keep trying though… We’re holding off the announcement for one more day to make sure everything’s working OK.

We’ve got some folks to thank today for helping to make this event possible, so pardon us while we use this space to do so:

Snow falls on Birmingham… again

While we got just enough to make it interesting for those that woke up early this Saturday morning in Birmingham, you really wouldn’t be able to tell that we’d gotten a taste of winter the Friday before Daylight Savings Time begins for the U.S.

James Faivre’s image shows that there was still some beauty to behold today, even if only for a moment. Clicking on the image above will take you to a gallery of photos of taken by Bob Farley this morning out at Ruffner Mountain Nature Center.

Stay warm and don’t forget that you can share your pictures from this morning with us either by email (photos@bhamterminal.com) or by adding them to our Flickr group!

Random Shots: That’s a big box to fill up

The view looking at the IN sign

We figured you’d enjoy these images from this afternoon’s installation of the first of several large “IN” Birmingham ballot boxes across metro Birmingham.

NOTE: There are more images from the installation available for viewing – just click on the image to see them.

We’ve talked about this project late last month when it was officially announced. This one is located in front of the Belk at Brookwood Village. Based on what we learned today, you’ll have several chances to make sure your suggestions are heard.

There will be about 50 (much smaller) boxes located throughout the area (and a few more big ones), allowing participants to share their favorite “in” spot. The collected results will be used to create a guide that will be distributed to visitors to the city and its surrounding area.
