The view looking at the IN sign

We figured you’d enjoy these images from this afternoon’s installation of the first of several large “IN” Birmingham ballot boxes across metro Birmingham.

NOTE: There are more images from the installation available for viewing – just click on the image to see them.

We’ve talked about this project late last month when it was officially announced. This one is located in front of the Belk at Brookwood Village. Based on what we learned today, you’ll have several chances to make sure your suggestions are heard.

There will be about 50 (much smaller) boxes located throughout the area (and a few more big ones), allowing participants to share their favorite “in” spot. The collected results will be used to create a guide that will be distributed to visitors to the city and its surrounding area.

They’re saying you’ve only got until June to get your votes in either through one of the boxes or by submitting your nominations to their official website.

Click on the image to see some more images from the construction of the box, including some more shots of CVB president Jim Smither lending a hand in its construction (that’s him holding the box on the right).
