Patrick Cooper addressed the crowd of supporters gathered at WorkPlay earlier this evening. With 100% of the precincts reporting, Cooper had received 15,392 votes, or 29.54% of the total votes cast in the 2007 mayoral election.
Cooper says that he plans to contest the results of this evening’s election. Currently, unofficial results have Larry Langford having the votes needed to be declared the winner.

There are reports on al.com and bulletins being sent through MySpace saying that voters have been experiencing problems on Birmingham’s east side when attempting to vote in the city’s mayoral election today.
We would like to know if you had any problems when going to vote today. We’d ask that you post a comment to this post. We’d also suggest contacting The Jefferson County Board of Registrars number at 325.5550. With this being a municipal election, the county is the contact and not the state.
Check in with us later on.
