From the Stationmaster: Corrections from yesterday’s Parisian post

Maybe I should say it’s more of a clarification. Yesterday we posted about the Parisian name staying alive in Detroit, MI. I received a couple of emails pointing to the original 2006 press release from Saks Incorporated (which has been inserted into my comment on the article) that listed the locations that existed at that time. Soon To Be Belk Location At Harbert Plaza Downtown

So what would Mr. Harbert be thinking about the pending name change of long-time Birmingham-based department store chain Parisian as part of its pending sale to Belk? He and other fans of the name should not be that upset; they would only need to go to Detroit, MI (or at least the metro area).

Three Parks: One step closer for Railroad Reservation

Among the many items approved during yesterday’s Birmingham city council meeting was the purchase of the  SYSCO Food Services warehouse on 1st Avenue South, pictured above, by the city. The property will be purchased for $1,550,000 to make way for the Railroad Reservation Park. Representatives hope that groundbreaking will go on as planned this fall.
