Fire + Ice joins Birmingham’s restaurant scene

The scene inside Fire + Ice on March 22, 2008 during a special invitation only sneak peek.

Those that visit Five Points South may notice a new occupant in the space that formerly housed a Gap and Seaside, FL based-Quincy Art Shop.

Fire + Ice Improvisational Grill officially opened yesterday afternoon after inviting some folks to try out their newest location (and first in the Southeastern U.S.) on Saturday evening. Additional locations are planned for Dubai and Panama later this year.

Guests were treated to a sneak peek event of what the restaurant has to offer. We could write about the place, the lively atmosphere and the food, but we figured why not just share some images taken by Bob Farley at the event.

We also wouldn’t mind a comment or two from folks that have already tried it out to let us know what you think…

The Terminally Happy Hour, The Bottletree

We’re hoping that you’re happy after filing those tax returns (and hopefully getting some refunds as well). Join us for our first monthly happy hour event at The Bottletree. We’ll be able to take over the patio and have some chips and salsa while enjoying happy hour drink specials. There may even be a new drink special for you to try out (well, maybe) while you get the chance to hang out with some of The Terminal’s staff, tell us how good (or bad) we really are to our faces and enjoy some good company.

Cost: Free (but it is happy hour after all)

Location:
The Bottletree
3719 3rd Avenue South (directions)

Rock the House benefit concert, The Bottletree

Listen to music, help kids. What could be easier? The Rock the House benefit concert at The Bottletree kicks off at 6 p.m. The bands — The Nathan Peek Band, City Of and Auburn Road — start taking the stage around 7. All proceeds go directly to Birmingham’s Ronald McDonald House and the party is being organized by the house’s Young Leadership Board.

Cost: Advance tickets are $10; they’ll be $12 at the door. Buy tickets online here.

Help send The Bomb Shelter out in style

Spottiswoode poster

We’d hoped to get this up yesterday, but the fun thing about technology is that sometimes it chooses not to work. The Bomb Shelter generously lent us some of the furniture that we used for our anniversary party on Friday. We’d like to make sure that as many people as possible know about (and go to) tonight’s send-off for the local music venue…

Spread the word and tell your friends! (and tell them thanks for helping out The Terminal)

P.S. Hopefully we’ll have some pics from the event tomorrow over on Timetable. Send us yours if you attend.

Spottiswoode + Menewa, The Bomb Shelter

Show your love for The Bomb Shelter as it says farewell tonight. They showed some love to us by letting us borrow some furniture for our anniversary party on March 14.

Spottiswoode and his Enemies are on their way back from SXSW and have decided to make a pit stop in the Magic City to help The folks at The Bomb Shelter say farewell. They’ll be joined by local band Menewa.

Cost: It’s $10 and BYOB.

Mustangs to “cruise” to Barber racecourse

Let’s say you want to be part of a mob of close to 6,000 Ford Mustangs as part of a 6-day cross-country trip commemorating the 45th anniversary of the classic sportscar

Well, in our case it would be two cross-county trips – one to get to Las Vegas, NV by next April 10 and then the one to get back here by April 16 to take part in what will be the largest Ford Mustang show ever. Registration opens this April 17, giving you a year to get ready.
