We take a look at coworking tonight in Woodlawn

Beaufort Coworking. khawkins04/FlickrAre you interested in seeing if coworking is right for you? Want to learn more about the options that currently exist in Birmingham, AL and the metropolitan area? Do you want to help us determine how or if coworking can fit into a vision of a physical home for The Terminal?

These and other questions will be the focus of a meeting taking place tonight in the Woodlawn neighborhood at Woodrow Hall (directions). We’re teaming with Main Street Birmingham to host this BYOB networking event from 6-7:30 p.m. Networking starts a 6 p.m.; the program at 6:30 p.m.

This is a follow-up from our coworking interest survey from this spring (which we’ve re-opened for those who are now learning about it). We’ve shared the results on a special section of the site as well as a video featuring some of coworking’s pioneers explaining exactly what it is that makes it different from just sharing office space.

We’re looking forward to seeing some of you there tonight (or hearing from you via the survey)!

Learn Who’s Who in Black Birmingham

Tonight some of the city’s most prominent African American leaders will be gathering tonight at the Birmingham Museum of Art to learn who’s been highlighted in the latest edition of Who’s Who in Black Birmingham. The event starts at 6 p.m. In addition to the unveiling of the 2nd edition of the book (which attendees receive as part of their $50 ticket price), organizers are hoping to provide up to 1,000 of the city’s best and brightest Blacks the opportunity to network with one another.

If you can’t attend, this link is scheduled to go live with images from the unveiling ceremony at a later date.

YP Expo, the remix

2008 YP expo imageTonight, folks representing Birmingham’s future will invade the Birmingham Museum of Art for an evening of networking and learning. The second annual YP Expo starts at 5:30 p.m. and goes until 9 p.m., with organizers expecting this year’s attendee numbers to far exceed last year’s estimated total of 550.

More than 30 area organizations will share information about how our growing young professional population can become more involved in our community, though we’re thinking they’d love to see anyone who considers themselves young at heart this evening.
