Y94.5, we hardly knew thee…

You can definitely tell that we took the weekend off when we miss a Radio Carousel story! The switch apparently took place shortly after Y94.5‘s simulcast of this year’s Thunder on The Mountain festivities. BTW, the website’s currently under construction. There is speculation all over the web as to what’s going to happen next. Wikipedia is currently saying that it’s gone country (though they’re currently simulcasting WJOX today) and Alabama Media Buzz is suggesting that it could be switching to an adult contemporary hits format.

The good news is that no matter what, we can count on Reg broadcasting next Sunday (at least that’s the word from the man himself courtesy of his Facebook account.

One stop shop for links on Birmingham launches

Well, we’ve been working on a one-stop shop for folks to check out what’s happening around our local web scene in a glance – a meta aggregator in the style of Alltop or PopUrls, but for Birmingham. Well, we’re still working on ours but the folks that brought you Birmingham Pulse have already launched theirs. It’s called Bhamlinks.com and currently contains feeds from our local media outlets, some of the city’s more popular blogs and us. They’re looking for feedback but since we don’t know if they want us to share the contact information, we’re going to ask you to comment here and let them know.

The Mojo’s in Texas now…

Probably not what you’re expecting from us first thing on a Monday morning. But we had to take a moment and bid a fond farewell to an early supporter and contributor to The Terminal.

Chris “Mojo” Denbow has packed up and headed west, to Houston, TX. We hope that we’ll still see him around from time to time. If you aren’t familiar with him, you may want to check out one of the many online homes that he maintains.

Fireworks fall on Birmingham

The brief rain shower did not keep about a dozen people from watching the fireworks from the quarry overlook at Ruffner Mountain Nature Center Friday night. Not only did the fireworks from Vulcan prove to be entertaining but the Gate City and South East Lake neighborhoods put on a fine show as well.

A “Got plans?” primer for the 4th

Sorry guys and gals. I just spent some time adding items to the Terminal calendar, something I need to do more often (Hint, hint: Submit your events, your friends’ events, even stuff you hear about and I’ll do my best to get the info up somewhat quicker than slower). And I had this nagging feeling that I’d forgotten to do something. And then it hit me, I needed to take out the trash. Then I remembered the mayor gave everyone the day off. But not me. I won’t take the day off from telling you about this weekend; read on.
