Checking out o kafé’s new digs

The banner says it all, though it did look open. Their relatively new location in Pepper Place allows folks that buy coffee from them during farmers market season to have somewhere to hang out the rest of the year. Looks like they’re already booking acts too, as the poster said there was a show set for August 24. It may be an excuse to check it out.

Across the pond: The follow-up, Part 2

We were going to do a follow-up about the fallout from our city’s skyline being used in a mailing about recycling efforts to more than 700,000… in the UK. Instead, André (that’s me) was interviewed for a story that was published in The Birmingham Post early this morning (their time) about a similar incident that happened over here last year. The Associated Press ran their own account of the story as well, interviewing our Chamber’s very own Melanie Davis.

The Birmingham Mail even got into the act with their take on the situation.

Daily Dixie’s done (for now)

That’s the word from Dan -a visit to the Daily Dixie site confirms the unfortunate fact. We’re gonna miss him. He says that he may be willing to let someone else take over (and that he may even return to it himself someday soon). There’s also a far from exhaustive list of the reasons he “quit” blogging.

For those that haven’t scrolled all the way to the bottom of the page, he promises that we’ll be able to go back and reminisce his entries soon…

We’re essential!

This is the part where we blatantly plug the current (August 2008) issue of Birmingham Magazine (while thanking associate editor Carla Jean Whitley for showing her some love to the hub) by asking you to pick up a copy, turn to page 86 and cheer the fact that we made the list of “Essential” websites here in The Magic City in the. There are some friends of The Terminal on the list as well, including Bhamdining, BhamWiki, {head}:sub/head, r3vrb, THE2NDHAND, Birmingham Pulse, BirminghamMom, Wade on Birmingham and The Wine Pig.

Check it out and see if there’s any other site you’d include on the list.
