So what’s this new section?

Welcome to The Rumble

I was actually surprised when I was stopped several times over the weekend and asked just what this new section I hinted at was going to be. Well, it’s live as of right now and it’s called The Rumble.

There’s a method to the madness here, so you can either go on over and start using it OR you can read on after the jump and get some crazy explanation about why we’re doing it.

Why we’ve been a little slow recently

I figured some of the regular visitors to The Terminal may be wondering why we’re not updating as frequently as usual. While some of it has to do with meetings to help expand awareness of the site, most of it has been because we are putting the finishing touches on a new section.

Depending on some last minute coding issues, this new section will be launching either tomorrow or on Monday morning and will be the first of several new announcements about the site in the coming weeks. We think you’ll like what this section will allow you to do.

I just wanted to take a moment and thank you for your patience and understanding (and of course to plug the t-shirts one more time Smile especially since we’ve finally introduced a white one!)

Three reasons to buy a Terminal T

Pink Terminal T ad

  1. $1 from every purchase goes to a local charity. The charity is chosen once a quarter. This quarter’s charity is the Community Kitchens of Birmingham. NOTE: If you happen to buy a pink Terminal T this month, an additional $1 will go to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation of North Central Alabama.
  2. It’s just a cool shirt!
  3. We are attempting to formally create an entity to ensure that The Terminal is around for a long time and we need your help. If you could buy a shirt from us (and encourage others to do so) it would help spread the word about our existence and provide us with the support needed to get to the next level. Of course, you could always advertise on the site too if you’re a business, but the T-shirt would be a great start.

Thanks for your readership and for your support. Click here if you just want to go ahead and buy one (more colors are coming soon).

Reminder: Win tickets to Pompeii Preview Gala

We figured we’d remind you since we still haven’t uploaded the button to the front page to take you directly there. We are giving away two (2) tickets to the Preview Gala next week. Make sure you’ve entered!

Take a Moment: Think pink this month

Pink Terminal T

Up above you’ll notice a pink Terminal T. We hope you’re already aware of our black Terminal T-shirt (among others).
Click here to learn about our efforts to support local charities through t-shirt sales. Well, we decided to expand it just a little more for the month of October.

The pink shirts will only be available for the month of October and in addition to the $1 that goes to The Community Kitchens of Birmingham, an additional $1 will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation of North Central Alabama. Spread the word if you can.

Don’t forget about the Race for the Cure coming up on October 13.

The Terminal’s in new edition of BBJ

Yeah, we just found out ourselves. The piece in the Birmingham Business Journal includes photos taken from the website’s launch party and Happy Hour for a Cause event on August 29th at The Bottletree. Here’s the link to the article.

If you’re a subscriber, you’ll see a few pictures. We’re not, so we’ll just have to live with that one shot of AndrĂ© holding the license plate at the center of this long-term project. Or the one up above.

Buy a T & support a local charity!

small Terminal T adI’m sure you’ve noticed the big image of the black T-shirt that has graced you in the center column if you’ve visited the front page sometime during the last two weeks. Well, if you were to visit the page today, you’ll notice that we’ve changed the image. If you click on it, you’ll also noticed that we’ve added some additional information.

For those that have still not clicked on the image yet, we’ve decided to donate $1 from the proceeds of every T-shirt sale will now go to an area charity. The local charity will change quarterly. Now go on over there and find out who the first recipient of the quarterly check will be.

NOTE: There will be other shirt colors available in the coming days… stay tuned!
