We’re in Memphis today for BarCamp

Yes, you read that correctly. A better way to say it is that I’m in Memphis, TN today to be part of a community blogging panel discussion with Elizabeth Lemmonds of Memphis Connect and Morgan Levy and Christy Frink of Nashvillest at this year’s BarCamp Memphis.

If you’re interested in seeing what’s going on at the conference today and you’re on Twitter, look for the hashtag #bcmem. There’s also a Posterous site set up and I’m assuming that the session will be live streaming starting at 1 p.m. CT – it’s supposed to be on the Room 106 feed.

Help us shift gears starting tonight

We’re going to host a meeting this evening (Tuesday, June 2) at 5:30 p.m.upstairs at Shift WorkSpace (@2308 2nd Avenue North) for those interested in contributing to bhamterminal.com in all of the ways that you can think of (writing, photography, video, audio, etc.).

We’ll talk a little bit about the direction that the site plans to go in the next few months and about interest in some long term projects that we’d like to implement. Plus, you get to see our new offices. You’ll want to come in through the door to the right of the main entrance.

If you’ve got any questions in advance, drop us a line at info@bhamterminal.com.

We turn 2 on Saturday!

No, it’s not necessarily big news, but it’s news nonetheless. What are we going to do to celebrate? I have no idea. We’d like your feedback to help figure that out. If anyone has an idea about where they’d want to meetup to celebrate our second anniversary, add your suggestion to the comments section.

While I’m at it, I’d also like to remind you that we’re still taking submissions for our Be Birmingham photo contest until Thursday afternoon, March 12, at 5 p.m. I’ll be blunt and say that I was hoping to see more entries reflective of actual places and people in Birmingham, but there’s still time to see if those types of entries will come in.

A quiet day on The Hub, so come be Terminally Happy!

We’ve spent most of the day in meetings with some of our fellow media outlets (some planned, some unplanned), leading to the silence on this Monday morning. We’d like to thank them (you know who you are) for taking some time to pow wow about some things. Hopefully we’ll see some of you at The J. Clyde (who appear ready to enter the world of blogging themselves) this evening (Monday, November 17) for an impromptu Terminally Happy Hour (we should be there at 5:30 p.m.); otherwise, keep your eyes open for some minor tweaks to the site beginning tomorrow…

…and let us know if you can make our Holiday Get Together on December 5th (at Speakeasy) – let us know over on Facebook if you’ll be able to make it).

Want to add your voice to Birmingham’s hub?

I’ll be at o’kafé’s in Pepper Place tomorrow morning, Saturday, November 15 by 10 a.m. – though if I’m actually feeling squirrelly, I may show up at 8 a.m.

It’s an open call for anyone to contribute in any way possible, or possibly for any new sections that you would be willing to try out.

If you can’t make it out and you’re interested in contributing (yes, we’re finally updating the submissions page late tonight), direct message us on Twitter or email us at info@bhamterminal.com.

Celebrate Repeal Day (and the holidays) with The Hub!

It’s the time of year where folks find time to come together and enjoy each other’s company – and we wouldn’t want it any other way! So how about putting our little get-together on your calendar now so you don’t forget?

Come on out Friday, December 5 for a special holiday edition of The Terminally Happy Hour downtown at Speakeasy!

Let us know you’re coming via RSVP at Facebook or Upcoming!

See, December 5 happens to be the 75th anniversary of passage of the 21st Amendement (a.k.a. Repeal Day), repealing the 18th Amendment (the one that ushered in Prohibition). So we figured, what better way to celebrate than to go to a bar named Speakeasy. We’re excited that they’ll will be letting us invade the bar that night. We’ll have some more information next week…

But if you know of any other holiday parties we can add to the list, let us know in the comments section.

The Terminal Concert is tonight!
