The Spots live recording, Speakeasy 1920

Yeah, you’ll feel guilty if you don’t go. At least you’ll want to feel guilty if you don’t go. This evening’s event will feature the much anticipated recording and filming of The Spots at Speakeasy. All you really need to know is that it’s a chance to drink Guinness on tap and listen to a good band do a live recording.

Sharrif Simmons Benefit, The Nick

The latest benefit performance for spoken word performer Sharrif Simmons is set for The Nick. The lineup includes The Sharrif Simmons Experience, RTist With Green Seed, Phillip, Drew, & Eric Of Caddle Acoustic & Special Guests! Cost for the show will be $10.

According to the MySpace profile set up to assist in fundraising efforts, Simmons has recently suffered some setbacks involving recovery from his May 10 attack. This and other performances whether they are here or in Brooklyn can do nothing but help.

One more 101.1 FM update

This link leads to an article on NBC 13 that was just posted less than one hour ago. It reports that the FM signal will be going to an adult comtemporary format.

All those that are fans of the talk shows can stop wondering if the talk show hosts will have jobs. You will only have to go over to 850 AM beginning next week to find them.

UPDATE: The “fun” starts at 12:01 a.m. Thursday

They’ve started doing a countdown to when "the fun starts" on WYDE-FM, formerly known as The Source. If we’re doing our math correctly, the format change will be complete beginning at 12:01 a.m. Thursday morning.

Listeners this morning woke to Christmas in July as Christmas songs were playing on the staiton, though it appears that the signal strength has been reduced during the changeover.

Update: Hicks print finds a home

Earlier this week we told you about the Taylor Hicks print being auctioned off to raise funds for Enterprise, Alabama’s Board of Education. The city is still recovering from damage sustained and deaths caused by a tornado earlier this spring.

When the dust settled last night, the winning bid for the piece of art was $277.50. The starting bid was $30.
