No more HD signals for APTV

While the number of HD ready television sets currently in use is unknown, those that do enjoy this luxury are now without a national public television feed. Those that have the sets may have already noticed (particularly if you have cable) that the signal coming in is not the national PBSHD feed but a stretched version of the analog feed, a phenomenon that is taking place across the country due to cost. One more 101.1 FM update

This link leads to an article on NBC 13 that was just posted less than one hour ago. It reports that the FM signal will be going to an adult comtemporary format.

All those that are fans of the talk shows can stop wondering if the talk show hosts will have jobs. You will only have to go over to 850 AM beginning next week to find them.

UPDATE: The “fun” starts at 12:01 a.m. Thursday

They’ve started doing a countdown to when "the fun starts" on WYDE-FM, formerly known as The Source. If we’re doing our math correctly, the format change will be complete beginning at 12:01 a.m. Thursday morning.

Listeners this morning woke to Christmas in July as Christmas songs were playing on the staiton, though it appears that the signal strength has been reduced during the changeover.

That’s the question fans of 101.1 WYDE-FM are asking this morning as noise or Christmas music fills the air as they tuned in this morning. A quick check of their website shows that the domain is being changed to Fun101radio.com.

UPDATE: The "fun" starts on Thursday morning

It appears that many did not expect this change today, although several people were upset about the last broadcast of the Home Show on Saturday, who actually announced the change in a news posting on their site. Continue reading

Howard one of Ebony’s 2007 Bachelorettes

Jestina HowardJestina Howard has been named one of Ebony Magazine’s 2007 Bachelorettes. She is one of 19 chosen to make the list that’s been published in the July 2007 issue, available now on newsstands. As mentioned in this week’s Birmingham Times article, she is the only person chosen from Birmingham, Alabama on the list. Ruben Studdard made the bachelors list in the June issue.

Howard is the owner of Aware Cosmetics and is quite active in the city, including serving on the board of Catalyst

Fox 6 one of nine stations put up for sale

News Corporation today announced that WBRC-TV, also known by all of us here in town as Fox 6, was one of nine television stations being put up for sale. There was no reason given for any of the sales.

The company has retained Allen & Company, LLC of New York, NY to advise it with regard to potential transactions. Continue reading
