News Corporation today announced that WBRC-TV, also known by all of us here in town as Fox 6, was one of nine television stations being put up for sale. There was no reason given for any of the sales.

The company has retained Allen & Company, LLC of New York, NY to advise it with regard to potential transactions.

The full list of owned and operated stations being placed on the market by News Corporation are listed in the official press release.

The move would reduce the total of owned and operated stations held by Fox Television Station group to 26. Among the other stations listed in the press release is Memphis’ WHBQ.

WBRC was sold to Fox in 1995.
