Fleur-de-lis logo The Magic City will be hosting representatives from The Crescent City for the first part of the week. Our guests will be the Fleur-de-lis Ambassadors from New Orleans beginning this morning. This will be the second visit made by the partnership since its formation (the first was to Boston, MA). They will be in town for two days meeting with our city’s political, business, civic and philanthropic leaders, in addition our local mainstream media outlets.

According to their website , their mission is “to spread the message that New Orleans is an economically viable, livable city with a long-range recovery plan in progress; to seek additional support in our recovery from business and philanthropic organizations.” They hope to provide a positive image of New Orleans to combat what they consider negative one-sided coverage of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

The organization definitely demonstrated the heart of a compassionate city when it recently made a request on their site to provide support for those affected in Greensburg, KS through contributing to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund .

The contingent visting the Magic City includes:

They plan to visit 14 cities over the next year to “combat misperceptions about the city’s recovery, reignite interest in New Orleans and share personal insights and experiences.” We’ll no doubt show them a good time; hopefully we’ll also allow them to return the favor during our next visit down.
