The Godfather, Alabama Theatre

The "Mighty Wurlitzer" will be played from 7 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. during the evening performance and from 1:30 p.m. – 2 p.m. before the Sunday matinee screenings. Doors will open one (1) hour and classic cartoons will be shown before each film.

Artwalk Brewhaha, Starbucks (Five Points South)

This Saturday, June 23, Starbucks in Southside will host Birmingham photographer Lane Finch and a special reading by THE2NDHAND.as part of the July ArtWalk Brewhaha.

Join them upstairs in the Five Points South Starbucks at 7 p.m. for an art-filled evening.

Finch’s photography emphasizes the details and vibrant color of nature, featuring subjects from around the world. The special reading will feature Brad Vice, author of "The Bear Bryant Funeral Train,” Birmingham-based poet Jim Murphy, and Birmingham-based fiction writer and THE2NDHAND editor Todd Dills.
 

Gimme Shelter: Barkitecture Charity Auction, B&A Warehouse

The Barkitecture tour concludes at B&A Warehouse, where attendees can bid on some incredible doghouses as well as some items for our other four-legged friends.

The event starts at 7 p.m. and features live & silent auctions, live entertainment by Nashville’s Webb Wilder, food, drinks and fun.
The winning doghouse design will be featured in both the Southern Living House Plans Magazine and website along with a profile of the architect who designed and built the doghouse.

The American Institute of Architects Birmingham Chapter (AIA) and The Greater Birmingham Humane Society (GBHS) collaborated to bring "Gimme Shelter: Barkitecture Tour & Charity Auction" to life.

Tickets cost $75 and $125 and are available from GBHS (click here to purchase).

YP Expo tomorrow night!

YP expoThis weekend will already be crazy with people racing to the courthouse and enjoying their art on the rocks.

20+ organizations are hoping that you’ll come out and learn more about them to start it off right at the YP Expo while checking out one of the newest renovations in the city center.

In the process, it’s also hoped that those in attendance will get to learn more about how many others are just like them, young, active and ready to make a positive change in our community. Continue reading
