We’re really not weren’t sure what the deal is was ourselves. There’d been a lot of searches recently including the words “Fire and Ice“, “Birmingham” and “what happened” bringing folks to the website so we headed over to Five Points South where we took the above photo.

The windows were covered in paper though there were no signs explaining what was going on. Comments to the restaurant’s fan page on Facebook suggest that this has been the case since October 10. Emails have been sent to the local corporate offices with no answer or voicemail available when phoned. The restaurant opened in March of 2008.

What we did learn was that the restaurant is having improvements made that should be complete in time for a December reopening, so those who enjoy the restaurant shouldn’t be worried about them closing.

:) I see they responded on another post. Now I am going to the bingo hall before the judge orders them closed.

They did and we're thankful for their response since it makes more sense to receive official word than to speculate. Sounds like there will be another restaurant there though; only time and their candidness with communicating with us will tell us what it will be like.

Well, we have not heard that from them, so we'll stick with our current post until someone provides a statement otherwise. That would be the proper thing to do in this case.

Many restaurants will do this before they close down. What they are doing is not improvements but looking for a buyer. If one does not show up then they close down.Point in case recently " Burley Earl" - Said they were closed for improvements and vacation. Did not reopen due to not having anyone to buy the restaurant.
