I’ve been waiting for this one for a while folks. This weekend heralds the arrival of the coolest local music festival to date. It’s got so many of my favorite musical hamsters rocking over the course of two days that I’m salivating right now. We still have to make it through Thursday though! Here’s what you have to look forward to:
Thursday 4/17 | |||
Tommy Womack / Will Kimbrough @ Workplay
Admission: 8$ | Go Time: 8:00 p.m.
Tommy Womack paints himself as a crazy man, and he’s quirky to be sure. Anyone who mentions their ability to track mafia genealogy back to the beginning as the finale of their songwriting bio has got some unique perspective on the rest of us.Wil Kimbrough used to be in a band (the bis-quits) with Tommy Womack, but now the two of them are out touring separately together. They both play a brand of solid americana that’ll get yer heart yearning.
Fri. 4/25 – Sat. 4/26 |
|||
Raindrop Music Festival @ Bottletree
Admission: 20$ day / 35$ weekend
Go Time: 6PM Fri. / 3:15PM Sat.
I don’t really have room here to profile all of the bands playing this festival, but suffice it to say that they are local and awesome. Here’s the line-up:Friday, April 25 6 p.m. – Squirrel House 7 p.m. – The Triceratops 8 p.m. – Arkadelphia 9 p.m. – Sworn Enemies 10 p.m. – The Broken Letters 11 p.m. – Duquette Johnston & the Rebel Kings Saturday, April 26 |
