Another weekend is upon us. I can almost hear the collective sighs of the populace as they prepare to vent their pent-up frustrations into the atmosphere. What better way to facilitate said release than to head to one of the following shows. Music: It’s good for what ails ya. Take one, and call me on Monday.

Thursday 3/20
The Legendary Shack Shakers @ Bottletree
Admission: 10$   Go Time: 9:00 p.m.
Legendary Shack Shakers   Jello Biafra once called J.D. Wilkes, the lead singer of The Legendary Shack Shakers, “…the last great Rock and Roll frontman”, and apparently Robert Plant is also in their fan camp. Comin’ straight out of Nashville to cram your skull full of blues harp and rock-a-billy, these guys bring the energy live, so get ready to sweat. Consider yourself forewarned.

Friday 3/21
Taylor Hollingsworth / The N.E.C. @ The Nick
Admission: 7$   Go Time: 10 p.m.
Taylor Hollingsworth   C’mon now, y’all know Taylor Hollingsworth by this point. He’s appeared in this column many times, and is ever present in our local bars. This guy shreds it with proficiency and a rock n’ roll heart. Take every chance you get to see him. I ain’t foolin’.

The N.E.C.   Get ready for some grit, courtesy of Atlanta garage rockers The N.E.C.. This is the rock equivalent of rolling in the mud for a while. It’s dirty, but it feels so good, and you might look a mess when you’re through. Don’t wear the nice shirt.

Saturday 3/22
The Broken Letters @ Bottletree
Admission: $9   Zero Hour: 9 p.m.
THe Broken Letters   The Broken Letters are locals worth loving. Their stuff can be as methodical as a funeral march, but it doesn’t drag, nor is it a drag. They have a new album coming out soon, and you will probably get a pretty good sneak peek if you come out to the show tonight. Be the first among your friends!

Until we meet again, may your minds be full of music and your ears empty of ringing.
