I didn’t get out to see many shows last weekend, what with watching my father run until his legs almost fell off. I did catch The Fiery Furnaces, who were everything I had hoped they would be. How was your weekend? I can’t hear you, you’re on the other side of the screen from me.

Thursday 2/14
Trees With Bells @ Rojo
Admission: FREE   Go Time: 8:00 p.m.
Trees With Bells   Cello isn’t really the first instrument one thinks of when looking for mates in a band, but Trees With Bells use theirs to create a mellow, breathy sound that can be both haunting and lulling. Culled from members of a cadre of other local bands, these guys generate a captivating sound. Did I mention the show was FREE!

Friday 2/15
Taylor Holingsworth @ The Nick
Admission: $10   Go Time: 10 p.m.
Taylor Hollingsworth   I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Taylor Hollingsworth is as close to a guitar god as Brimingham has got going on right now. I’ve already featured him, but I’m guessing there are many of you who have not had the sheer face-melting joy of basking in the squall this guy emanates. ‘Nuff said.

Saturday 2/16
Taylor Holingsworth / Baak Gwai @ Cave 9
Admission: $5   Zero Hour: 10 p.m.
Taylor Hollingsworth   What?! It’s not my fault Taylor Hollingsworth is playing two nights in a row! Now you really have no excuse. You don’t have to go to both, just pick one and be there.

Baak Gwai   Another favorite of mine! This really is a great show to go to. Baak Gwai and Taylor are two of the best around, as far as local acts go. If you have any kind of a pulse, this will be good times for you.

Delicious and nutritious! Now go get it.
