Kids Got The Vote kicks off tonight

Kids Got the Vote kickoff posterIf you’ve got a chance, you may want to stop on by WorkPlay tonight starting at 8 p.m. and learn more about plans to register young people to vote in advance of the November elections. Empower Alabama is partnering with Catalyst for Birmingham and Greater Birmingham Ministries in this effort which will include shows at WorkPlay and The Bottletree. Tonight’s event will feature catering by local restaurants and entertainment by DJs Nastique and Charles III and the All That Fuss dancers.

Coincidentally, this morning’s Birmingham News reported an increase in the number of African American voters registered in a front page story, pointing to Barack Obama’s bid for president. It’ll be interesting to see how many people are registered overall by November 4, 2008.
