Holiday triple feature, Alabama Theatre

It’s just not the holidays without a little “White Christmas” or “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.” And while it is fun watching our favorites at home with family and friends, imagine those same favorites on the big screen at the Alabama Theatre! Here’s a great chance to make a new holiday tradition, especially with the kids — especially with today’s triple feature matinee of “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” “Mickey’s Christmas Carol” and “Santa Claus Is Comin’ To Town.” The Alabama Theatre is located at 1811 Third Ave. North in downtown Birmingham.

Cost: Tickets are $7 for adults/$6 for senior citizens and children under 12. Available at business office Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. or at the box office one hour before showtime.

The Show #2, Matthew’s Bar & Grill

No, it’s not an error in our system (though we do have a few). Last week’s first major event for the newly formed Birmingham Art Collective, at one of Birmingham’s newest restaurants, Matthew’s Bar and Grill was so well received that they’ve sent us an email saying that they’re going to be doing an encore. We do not know any additional details about performances at this time.

We do know that it’s The Show, and it’s enjoying a return appearance.

The Collective includes many area artists, writers and musicians. You can download their poster or visit their Facebook group or MySpace profile to learn more information about them and their efforts.

Cost: $0 (though you’ll want to have cash ready for the bar)

Matthew’s Bar and Grill

Catalyst Holiday Soiree, Matthew’s Bar & Grill

This event was originally scheduled to be held in the new Sojourns location on 20th Street North. The change in locations was due to the need to accomodate a larger crowd.

Birmingham’s “hip to be civic” organization is asking for folks to come out for great food from Franklin’s Homewood Gourmet, an extended happy hour, and music from Tekneek. They’ve also got some exciting announcements about changes in leadership and their board.

Sounds like a reason to party…

Cost: $0

Location:
Matthew’s Bar and Grill
2208 Morris Avenue (directions)
