USA vs. China at the Reg July 25

The 2007 USA Baseball national team will play the national team from the People’s Republic of China at Regions Park (formerly the Hoover Metropolitan Stadium) on July 25 beginning at 7:05 p.m. The game will be the third played as part of the inaugural International Friendship Series being held throughout southeastern United States this summer. BSC alum called up by Oakland A’s

Connor Robertson - Courtesy of BSC AthleticsAs Birmingham Southern College prepares to end its last year as a NCAA Division I school, many in their athletics department are probably quite pleased with the news received yesterday morning. The college released a statement yesterday announcing that former Panthers first baseman/closer Connor Robertson had been called up by the Oakland Athletics from their Triple-A team, the Sacramento RiverCats . ESPNU joins local cable sports lineup

Bright House Networks has announced that they will be adding the all college sports channel to their basic digital tier service beginning next Tuesday, May 15. For those that are interested, it will be channel 172. This follows Charter Communications’ nationwide addition of the channel to their programming in late March. The addition of the channel provides additional coverage of sports at HBCUs in addition to those sports that are not normally covered on the other stations in the ESPN family nationwide. The resulting exposure that these sports and those institutions receive as a result will be interesting to watch, especially in light of a recent situation here in town. Continue reading
