A New Year’s Eve Cabaret Celebration, Virginia Samford Theatre

The Two Tamales (Jan Hunter & Kristi Tingle Higginbotham) are considered the two ladies of Birmingham stage. The Virginia Samford Theatre’s website listing says that they’ll be performing songs from their classic routine for those in attendance on New Year’s Eve. The night will feature a performance by Euan Morton, currently appearing in Cyrano de Bergerac with Kevin Kline and Jennifer Garner at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in New York until January 6th.  So, it’s sounding like a great show to me.

A Christmas message

Here’s what how one popular character reminds us of the reason we’re off today:

To you and yours, enjoy and best wishes!

Magic City Question: What’s your favorite Christmas song?

We figured most of you are either home or about to go home on this Christmas Eve…

So as you’re driving down the road (or watching A Christmas Story for the 1,oooth time, we were wondering what song on your iPod seemed to put you in the right frame of mind for the holiday season…

Let us know, and Merry Christmas!

Random Shots: Looking at lights in Birmingham

A popular pastime during the holidays is to go around town and look at how folks are decorating their homes. The Birmingham News ran a story on Sunday about just that, and have now posted a map showing locations suggested by their readers. If you’ve got any images of lights that you’d like to share with all of us from your travels, submit them to our Flickr Group or email them into photos@bhamterminal.com.

So we’re going to have a little get-together

Terminal Red logoWe figured that since everybody else was throwing a holiday party, why not the new kid on the block! Though we’re not quite as established as our fellow media outlets in town (read: no money), we thought it would be cool to swarm an area venue and give folks a chance to meet up and say hello before the holidays got away from us. So, this Thursday (December 20), 5 p.m. at The Bottletree, we’ll hope that some folks decide to come on out for Happy Hour!

We’ve got invites floating out there on Facebook, MySpace and Upcoming.org. Pass it along to others if you can. We realize it’s last minute so we may not see many folks, but we figured we’d give it a shot. If we don’t get a chance to say hello in person and pick up a t-shirt for a gift this holiday season (more on that later today), thanks for checking out the site. We really appreciate it.
