Help us cover Art on the Rocks!

We were just thinking… we’ve got to start finding ways to get more of you involved in the creation of this site. So, we’re asking you to help us cover Art on the Rocks’ opening night!

We know most of you will take pictures tonight while you’re there. We also know that several of you have Flickr accounts. We figure, why not have you take some shots and tag the ones that you think we’ll like. We’ll then choose some and link them back to your Flickr account. (We thought you’d like that Smiley) Here’s how: Continue reading

“What’s up tonight?” you ask… more than you think

Would Gehry’s work be welcome in the Magic City?

The Tuscaloosa News’ Tommy Stevenson ponders this question for us in a post on his blog. The idea of prolific yet controversial architect Frank Gehry producing work in the Magic City is definitely a question worth pondering. Continue reading

YP Expo tomorrow night!

YP expoThis weekend will already be crazy with people racing to the courthouse and enjoying their art on the rocks.

20+ organizations are hoping that you’ll come out and learn more about them to start it off right at the YP Expo while checking out one of the newest renovations in the city center.

In the process, it’s also hoped that those in attendance will get to learn more about how many others are just like them, young, active and ready to make a positive change in our community. Continue reading

YP Expo @ Innovation Depot

More than 20 organizations are taking part in the first ever YP expo (webpage for event), an opportunity for our region’s young professional community to find out all of the different ways to get involved in our community. It also provides an opportunity for people to see the amount that these individuals care about making their city better than ever. The new event will take place in the city’s new Innovation Depot, the former Sears building. Music for the evening will be provided by The Spots.

It’s free to attend, but so they have an idea of how many to expect, RSVP to http://www.evite.com/app/publicUrl/alison516@aol.com/YPExpo or send an e-mail to Alison Howell of the Regional Chamber of Commerce. It’s a great way to start what promises to be a busy weekend.
