Sounds like we’re going to get our second official candidate for mayor tomorrow afternoon. The Birmingham News reported yesterday that Jefferson County Commissioner Larry Langford intends to announce his candidacy for mayor tomorrow morning during the commission’s weekly meeting.

Langford would be the second person to officially announce their intention to run for office. He would join local attorney Patrick Cooper as the only ones officially in the race. Langford made a comment recently that led some to believe this announcement was imminent.

The mayoral election for Birmingham is scheduled for early October. If a runoff is necessary it would take place in early November.
