The AeroShell Aerobatic Team was in Birmingham as part of the the 2009 Barber Vintage Festival this past weekend performing an air show. The 5th edition of the festival also featured bike shows and a swap meet. The team flies the North American AT-6 Texan. The Texan first appeared in 1939 and was designed as a trainer for the United State Army Air Corps. According to the company’s website, the plane is still flown as a basic trainer and as a light attach aircraft by the air forces of 22 countries.
