Whitney and her guest contributor pal Arik Sokol are here to clue you in on this morning’s transition on 100.5FM from a sports format to “alternative rock”.

Why do I hear TOBY KEITH? KIIIIIIDDING.

So, as of 10:05am this morning, 100.5 is now Live100.5, Birmingham’s modern music complete with an opening setlist featuring REM’s Radio Free Europe (because that’s modern, in a classical sense) and Death Cab for Cutie’s I Will Possess Your Heart.

Tune in for less talk, more of a radio-friendly alternative vibe, complete with former WRAX programmer David Rossi’s expertise and Scott Register’s famous radio show once a week.

So what does man about town Arik Sokol think about this change? (and I quote): “I was ready to turn the beat around with some Gloria Estefan. But’s it’s good that rock and roll is back. I’m going to hope that my iPod gets a little rest and my radio gets cranked way up!”
