Activist, author and Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart has always been a champion of world music. His ground-breaking album “Planet Drum,” released in 1991, was the first to earn a Grammy in the World Music category. The Global Drum Project Tour, stopping at the Alys Stephens Center Saturday, Oct. 6, brings Hart together again with tabla artist Zakir Hussain, Nigerian talking-drum virtuoso Sikiru Adepoju and Latin percussionist Giovanni Hidalgo for one unforgettable night! Stay for the ASC Social Club POST-SHOW PARTY featuring a Community Drum Circle led by John Scalici. The ASC is located at 1200 10th Ave. South on the campus of UAB.
