The Birmingham News and various other news outlets are reporting that HealthSouth has agreed to sell its corporate campus to an investment fund sponsored by Trammell Crow Co., a real estate development company in Dallas, TX. The reported sale price is $60 million. The sale would include their headquarters building, their 85-acre campus and their "digital hospital" that still sits unfinished four years after construction was halted.
They will continue to lease space from the new owners for up to one year while arrangements are made to either secure new office space for the company elsewhere in the city or remain but occupy a smaller percentage of the complex. According to the report filed on The News’ Breaking News blog, Carruthers Real Estate Co. will be handling the process of relocating the company.
