YP issues: Question #1: What’s wrong?

The first question that our respondents answered in our survey was one that ranked the issues that were most important to them facing the city and the region right now through the eyes of a young professional. The overwhelming issue was image, or the perception of an image problem. Though there was a much more diverse response from those that chose to write additional comments.

Check out some of these comments and then let us know if there’s anything you want to add to the conversation:

Let’s look at some answers…

Late last week, we partnered with YP Now to conduct a survey trying to find out what issues were on the minds of our area’s future leaders. We are happy to report that we received more than 120 responses to the survey.

Beginning this evening we are going to take a closer look at the responses, taking the opportunity to post some of the written comments and asking for your feedback and continued dialogue. You can currently find the full results of the survey on this page.

You will also be able to find the full results of the survey on YP Now (we’ll let you know when they’ve been published to their site).

Stay tuned… the first question gets tackled beginning at 7:30 p.m.

We’re crunching numbers today

We bet you’re wondering why the site’s even quieter than it has been recently. Well, we’re sure that many of you had no idea that we were conducting a survey about issues that are affecting area young professionals as well as what made them most excited about living in The Magic City. Yeah, we were, in conjunction with YP NOW in preparation for an event tomorrow evening that brings together those young professionals as well as elected, community and business leaders from around the Birmingham metropolitan area.

We’ve heard of several things going on around town and we’re going to try our best to be sure that we cover it all… it’s just going to take us another hour to finish organizing these numbers so they can be presented (at least in raw form) tomorrow evening. We hope you understand… and we will be making sure that you know what the results are as well over the next few days.

State of Emergency: a Vote 2 Live rally, City Council Chambers

Next week Monday, our city’s young adults and youth will have the opportunity to make sure that their voices are heard during this year’s mayoral campaign during the Vote 2 Live rally taking place in Birmingham City Council chambers (City Hall, 3rd floor).

The event is an initiative of Innovative Approach Foundation in cooperation with other community organizations and it is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. and last for about an hour. According to information provided by the event’s organizers, the candidates have been invited to attend so that the city’s young adults would be able to ask them questions the night before the city decides who they want their next leader to be. There will also be giveaways and spoken word performances as part of the festivities.
