2nd Annual Zoo Run @ Birmingham Zoo

UPDATE: Zoo announces Free Day for race participants June 10 

Attention all runners! Make your way to the Birmingham Zoo on May 11 as Food World presents the 2nd Annual Zoo Run: Stampeding for Wild Elephants. This fun night will feature a 5K run and kids’ fun run.

Zoo Run logoAll proceeds will benefit the International Elephant Foundation. More than $10,000 was raised last year and race organizers hope to surpass that total this year! Full Moon Bar-B-Que’s Post Race Party will take place after all races. According to the site, there are new courses and new prizes. Click here to register for the event online or go by the zoo.

Birmingham ArtWalk 2007 @ Historic Loft District

Artwalk asks you to “…experience an event that’s uniquely Birmingham, when downtown’s historic loft neighborhood transforms into a vibrant art district.” The organization’s 6th annual juried art show – named a “must-see destination” for the Year of Alabama Arts – is free and open to the public. Attendees get the opportunity to discover work from regional artists and bands as well as explore area businesses, loft residences and artist studios. Art on the Rocks @ Birmingham Museum of Art

Art on the Rocks is a monthly after-hours event held at the Birmingham Museum of Art on select Friday evenings. The 2007 Season will be the third season of Art on the Rocks. The program is wildly popular, attracting 3,000 guests per event. Attendees enjoy an intriguing mix of music, food, drinks, adult art activities, and of course…ART!

Activities for each Art on the Rocks event include live musical entertainment, a scavenger hunt designed to encourage attendees to visit museum galleries, hands-on art activities, artist demonstrations, heavy hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar.

TechMixer 3.0 @ McWane Science Center

The region’s largest gathering of technology professionals, TechMixer presented by Moreson Conferencing, is back with version 3.0 at McWane Science Center. Downtown Get Together, Lobby, Superior Bank
