Three Parks: Red Mountain next steps discussed

Red Mountain Park Commission During August 10 Meeting

Yesterday afternoon the Red Mountain Park Commission met at Vulcan Park receive the final draft master plan from representatives from WRT. Among action items taken by the commission, the group unanimously agreed to move forward and begin a search for the park’s first ever executive director. When the discussion shifted to the closing on the property, officials said they were hopeful that it would take place before the end of the month.

The commission also agreed to conduct a one-day workshop with WRT to determine the steps necessary to complete the final master plan for what will be one of the largest parks in the region.

Marconi Park charette set for May 24

There has been a great deal of buzz in recent weeks about the future of one of Birmingham, Alabama’s downtown parks. It appears as though the first steps towards defining its future is set as Meredith Carswell-Sheline, executive director of the Carraway Community Development Corporation, announced earlier today that a town hall meeting & charette is planned to discuss future plans for Marconi Park on Thursday, May 24 starting at 5:30 p.m. The meeting will take place at the YMCA Youth Center.
