Don’t forget about Do Dah Eve!

City Stages t-shirts on sale

Your chance to vote for your favorite t-shirt in City Stages ‘ annual contest (sponsored by Mountain High Outfitters ) ended last week.

The official designs are now available from the Mountain High website and at their Birmingham area locations . Four designs are available to choose from, with each available for purchase for $14.95. Weekend passes are also available for the annual event, scheduled for June 15 – 17. Check ’em out!

As mentioned earlier today , Topper Price passed away yesterday evening. An earlier update on this site erroneously stated potential funeral arrangements announced. Currently the plans are to cremate Price’s body here in Birmingham. The cause of death has not been determined pending an autopsy. There are also currently no plans for a benefit to be held.

Report: Topper Price dies

Topper Price - c. 2001Word is beginning to spread among the local music scene in Birmingham, Alabama – Topper Price has reportedly passed away last night.

Price was a well-respected performer within the music community both locally and nationally. He was scheduled to perform on the Miller Lite stage at this year’s City Stages festival in downtown Birmingham.

There are no further details at this time.

As we learn more about this story, we will update this post.

UPDATE #1: (12:32 p.m.) Early word is that he died from an overdose early yesterday evening. There are no confirmed funeral arrangements at this time, though it is being assumed that he will be buried in Mobile. There is also word that a benefit will be organized to assist with costs incurred from the funeral.

“The Birmingham Sound” produces “Song of the Day”

It’s a track from The Birmingham Sound — The Soul of Neal Hemphill Vol. 1, a compilation CD that was produced by John Ciba and released last summer to much fanfare in Chicago and Birmingham.
