It’s hard to believe that the city of Birmingham was buried under just over a foot of snow nineteen years ago – especially when you look at the projected highs for the next seven days. We have a chance to reach the upper 70s and even a little above 80 on a couple of models.

The state is now the recipient of a gift courtesy of a Huntsville-based technology firm. Baron Services announced during a 1 p.m. news conference that it would be making its premium Saf-T-Net weather alert system available to all Alabama residents for free.

If you felt you heard more sirens than usual on February 22, it’s because it was Tornado Awareness Day for the state of Alabama. There’s already talk of another above-average season this year, meaning folks should be taking the necessary steps to create a safety plan and make sure they have access to important information.

Metro Birmingham is going to be under a hard freeze warning until Tuesday morning, December 28. We figured we should provide a few tips to prevent frozen pipes (and thaw them out if you aren’t able to prevent it from happening).
Birmingham, AL (and most of the rest of the state) received a good amount of snow yesterday. While it’s pretty to look at (and we’re hoping that you took some photos and will share them with us), we’re also hoping that you stay safe out there today.

Yes, we’re about to see a snow event in Birmingham and most of Central Alabama tomorrow… So we thought we’d give you a taste of what was going on overseas in the UK and a recent snowfall in Dublin (Ireland that is).
