Time’s running out for folks who feel like texting (or emailing or sending tweets) while driving anywhere in Alabama. Beginning August 1, 2012, Alabama joins the District of Columbia and 37 other states in banning texting while driving.

Saf-T-Net premium service now free for Alabama residents

The state is now the recipient of a gift courtesy of a Huntsville-based technology firm. Baron Services announced during a 1 p.m. news conference that it would be making its premium Saf-T-Net weather alert system available to all Alabama residents for free.
