The Eternal Flame of Freedom now burns again at the corner of 20th Street North and Park Place as a result of the efforts of one man, some stamina and one well-timed phone call. The Birmingham News shared the story on their blog yesterday afternoon.

Incidentally, the monument will celebrate its 40^th anniversary in 2009 on the same day that Bhamwiki will celebrate its 3^rd year.
