Let’s clear up this voting confusion (or part of it)

February 5th, 2008 by Andre Natta · 3 Comments

A quick note for those of you who have not voted as of yet today…

When you arrive at your voting location, you’ll eventually be handed a ballot. When you fill the ballot out, you must:

  • Select the candidate that you’re going to vote for, and
  • Select the delegates that correspond with your candidate (e.g. if you vote for Obama, don’t vote for Edwards’ delegates). You may choose no more than 8 delegates total for your candidate (that’s 4 men and 4 women). Double check before you leave otherwise your vote may not count.

Then, relax, enjoy the warm weather, and wait for the results…

That’s true for the Democratic ballot; the Republican ballot isn’t divided into men and women. You select one delegate per box for your candidate.

I felt like an idiot staring at that page full of people I’ve never heard of. It took me a couple of minutes just to find the damn instructions. What the hell is up with that? I still have no idea why I was voting for the Democratic delegates. Oh well, at least I got to vote for Michael Jackson.
