Java and Jams opened their doors on Thursday evening, in time to take advantage of those attending City Stages this weekend.

The coffeehouse, located at 321 20th Street North, is a free WiFi hotspot, which makes it one of more than 340 hotspots in the Birmingham metro area. The owners plan to serve as a live music venue as well as a place for local artists to display their works.

They have a web page designed by Magic City moments as well as a Myspace profile.

They plan to be open today as the annual music festival begins to wind down.
