rtn logoWell, at least for those with televisions that can pick up digital signals. Retro Television Network has signed a deal that was announced earlier this morning with NBC 13HD to introduce its station to the Birmingham, AL market during the first quarter of 2008.

The network is customized with shows from the 1950s – 1980s that will not conflict with other syndication contracts in place in the market. It’s owned by Little Rock, AR-based Equity Media Holdings. That company is partially owned by Univision.

This is not the first time that a local station has hosted another syndicated national network on its digital feed – The Tube, a music video-only network entered the market on UPN68’s signal in 2006; the station ceased national operations on October 1, 2007. Hopefully the new addition to our digital TV landscape will be successful. What do you think?
