There are two opportunities this week to take part in a course that will help protect yourself from identity theft. The Birmingham Police Department announced the courses yesterday, with both opportunities, this evening (November 6) and Thursday, November 8, taking place at the department’s police academy (401 6th Avenue South) beginning at 6:30 p.m.
“It is a goal of the department to educate the public about financial fraud so they will know how to protect themselves, particularly as the holiday season approaches,” said Chief Nunn.
Identity theft is considered the fastest growing type of crime in the nation, so those interested in attending either session should call 205.254.6356 to register. Each class will accommodate 100 people .
