While the number of HD ready television sets currently in use is unknown, those that do enjoy this luxury are now without a national public television feed. Those that have the sets may have already noticed (particularly if you have cable) that the signal coming in is not the national PBSHD feed but a stretched version of the analog feed, a phenomenon that is taking place across the country due to cost.
A regular contributor to DBSTalk.com contacted the offices of Alabama Public Television today about the switch, which has been in effect since July 1. He was told that the signal was dropped because of the fees being charged by the national office. We have contacted APTV’s press office and are assuming that due to the time of day we sent the message and the holiday tomorrow that we will be able to get a response no earlier than Thursday or Friday confirming the reasons for the switch back to analog.
