Hi guys! This is Whitney making a valiant post-cold effort to bring news of good music.<\/p>\n

Wednesday night, I checked out the Cordero<\/strong><\/a>\/13ghost<\/strong>s<\/strong> show at Bottletree. May I say one thing? ADORABLE! I’ve never really been a fan of much Spanish-centric music, but singer\/songwriter Ani Cordero and her band of indie veterans (from Calexico and Rock*A*Teens) endeared me. Check them out on their website<\/a> and pick up their new album, De Donde Eres.<\/p>\n

As for 13ghosts<\/a>, they never disappoint and I’m a big fan. They’re signed to Skybucket Record<\/a>s<\/a>, so I expect nothing less with all the stuff Travis Morgan has got going on lately. Be sure to check out the nterview I did with Brad Armstrong<\/a> of 13ghosts back in August.<\/p>\n

Tonight, 10.10:<\/strong><\/p>\n

We vs. The Shark<\/a> is playing Cave9<\/a> along with 3 other locals. $6<\/strong>. First set starts at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n

Our good friends The White Oaks<\/a> are playing WorkPlay<\/a> tonight at 9:45 p.m. It’s only 7 bucks<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Dorean Lives<\/a> is playing Speakeasy<\/a> (1920 3rd<\/sup> Ave. N.) tonight, so drink a PBR for me!<\/p>\n

Saturday,<\/strong> 10.11<\/strong>:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Saviours<\/a>, Arclight<\/a> and Fake Tyrants play Bottletree<\/a>. Fake Tyrants is fronted by Matt Whitson, one of the producers of APT’s new music show We Have Signal<\/a> (stay tuned for a pretty in depth post coming up featuring the guys that are putting it together). 18+ show, tix are $10<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Also, Lyle Lovett<\/a> and John Hiatt<\/a> are playing the Alys Stephens Center<\/a> on Saturday night. Who knew? This makes me proud of Birmingham and if you’ve got enough in your entertainment budget to see these legendary songwriters and major major musicians, it’ll be worth it.<\/p>\n

Sunday, 10.12:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cave9 <\/strong>rounds out the weekend with the Bachelor Bash<\/em> headed by Ex-Members of the Holy Trinity<\/a> and Honeysuckle (among a bunch of others).
