It’s time for the Junction to be jumping again. The 23rd<\/sup> annual Function at The Junction<\/a><\/strong> will take place this Saturday, July 26, from 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. in Erskine Hawkins Park<\/strong> in Ensley. This year the festival will feature national recording acts Shirley Brown<\/strong><\/a> (of Woman to Woman<\/a> fame) & EU<\/strong><\/a> (y’all remember Da Butt<\/a>, if not, click and take a listen.) It’s a celebration of music on the city’s West side and a homecoming for many (normal reported estimates put the crowd at 4,000 people).<\/p>\n

The merchants in the neighborhood’s historic downtown area will be hosting an evening of entertainment and fun on Friday night. You’ll be able to enjoy the Minister Prince Yelder & the Disciples of Christ<\/a><\/strong> and the Abyssinia Youth Choir<\/strong> near Marino’s on Avenue E & The Js and a performance from Walls Dance Studio<\/strong> along 19th<\/sup> Street Ensley from 5 – 8 p.m. Beginning at 8, folks can wander over to the outdoor stage in front of the Westside Lounge<\/strong> (corner of 17th<\/sup> Street and Avenue E, Ensley) and hear from Neo Jazz Collective<\/strong><\/a> and Daniel “Jos\u00e9” Carr<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
