So besides giving us a great look at art in the Magic City<\/a>, Charles has pretty much written my Got Plans? column on his personal blog, Pop Goes the City<\/a>. And after a pretty-please-with-a-cherry-on-top, he’s going to let me share the info with you. It’s a good thing Charles found some stuff to do because the weekend was looking a little bleak. But what am I saying \u2014 there’s always something to do in B’ham. Sometimes, you just have to ask your friends.<\/p>\n

And we are your friends here at The Terminal. We look out for you. Tell you the news, cool stuff, etc. So let’s get on with it already …<\/p>\n

Charles wrote about this first<\/a> and he’ll actually get to do this. By the time I get there, all the really, really cool T-shirts will be gone. I’ll just be left with the cool shirts. So don’t be a Christina, be a Charles and stop by What’s on 2nd<\/sup><\/a> for their \u201ccelebration of the Great American T-Shirt,\u201d starting Friday<\/strong>. Browse through more than 500 of them and if you find one that you just absolutely love, you can buy it too. And because it\u2019s What\u2019s On 2nd<\/sup>, you know there will be plenty of vintage ones! I love vintage T-shirts! For the best selection, stop by anytime between 5-9 p.m. The store is located at 2306 2nd Ave. N.<\/p>\n

Saturday<\/strong> morning head downtown for a little multi-tasking. Meet at the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute<\/a> for a FREE “Milestones” walking tour starting at 10 a.m. Your master tour guide is Barry McNealy. Burn calories and learn at the same time. And if you have a little one, just slap on some sunscreen and strap junior into the stroller. And that’s not the only walking tour on Saturday. Across Alabama, people will be lacing up their sneakers. Check out other cities participating<\/a> in Gov. Riley’s attempt to get us off the couch. These walking tours are only in June so if you miss this weekend, you’ll have one more chance June 28.<\/p>\n

And don\u2019t forget to pick sunflowers Saturday<\/strong> at the Gardens of Park Place, run by the folks running Jones Valley Urban Farm<\/a> in downtown B\u2019ham, 7th<\/sup> Ave. North and 25th<\/sup> Street. It happens from 2-5 p.m. and afterward, at 6, Muse of Fire<\/a> brings Shakespeare to the urban farm, staging \u201cgarden scenes\u201d from the Bard’s plays, accompanied by wine and hors d\u2019oeuvres. Sunflower picking is free (well, that’s what we hear. We heard that last year too and it wasn’t so take some cash just in case) but Muse of Fire is going to want a $25 donation. Again, thanks to Charles for reminding me. I loved getting the sunflowers last year.<\/p>\n

If anyone happens to be going to Montgomery this weekend,<\/strong> check out the Yousuf Karsh exhibit at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts<\/a>. What Ansel Adams is to landscape photography, Karsh is to portraits. I’m a big fan. Sunday is the last day. Museum admission is FREE.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"\"\"<\/a>
