Among the nominees for outstanding restaurant is Birmingham&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.highlandsbarandgrill.com\/\">Highlands Bar and Grill<\/a>. It is the sixth year in a row it has been a finalist for the prestigious award.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/2014-james-beard-awards-nominees-2014-3\">Business Insider posted about the announcement yesterday on their own website<\/a>\u00a0(it was syndicated on several others) and were apparently not aware of the restaurant&#8217;s current streak, writing it was a &#8220;somewhat surprisingly&#8221; inclusion. It is co-owned by 2001 winner of the James Beard award for Best Chef &#8211; Southeast, and 2011\u00a0Who&#8217;s Who of Food &amp; Beverage inductee <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bhamwiki.com\/w\/Frank_Stitt\">Frank Stitt<\/a>. The restaurateur, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.al.com\/entertainment\/index.ssf\/2014\/03\/after_sixth_straight_james_bea.html\">based on this AL.com piece shared today<\/a>, is treating the nomination as old-hat.<\/p>\n<p>The winners will be announced during a ceremony in early May in New York City.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<a href=\"http:\/\/bhamterminal.com\/timetable\/2014\/03\/19\/is-the-sixth-time-the-charm-for-highlands\/\"><\/a><p>Foodies in Birmingham, AL weren&#8217;t that surprised by the sixth consecutive outstanding restaurant nomination from the James Beard Foundation.
